National SDS vehemently condemns the Israeli occupation's attack on Birzeit University, and its attacks on the Palestinian people on every front.

In the early morning of December 14th, over a hundred soldiers of the Israeli occupation brutally raided Birzeit University-a public Palestinian university in the West Bank region. They detained and attacked security guards at the gates, and raided several departments of the University, including the graduate studies and nursing departments. To crown their violent pillaging of the university, they tore down the Palestinian flag that was flying there.

This is not the first time the zionist regime of Israel has attacked Birzeit University and this is only one of numerous attacks carried out by the regime this year. Just this May, the bombings of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan took place as well as the evictions and shootings in Sheik Jarrah that left many dead, injured, and displaced. This past week alone, there have been attacks on the village of Burqa that have left many injured by rubber-coated steel rounds and suffocated from the inhalation of tear gas. It is evident that the zionist settler-state of Israel is trying to crush morale whilst killing, disabling, and traumatizing Palestinians during moments of vulnerability and resistance.

However, the momentum for Palestinian liberation has not come to a halt. 2021 has made it evident that so much is feasible through solidarity and collective action on an international scale. Now more than ever, it is important to stand in solidarity with Palestinians in their fight against the Israeli settlers and their regime built upon genocide and ethnic cleansing.

We resolutely join the chorus of people and organizations demanding an end to these brutal attacks, and fighting forward to the day when Palestine is free, from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean sea.
