National Students for a Democratic Society condemns in the strongest possible language the attempts by Colombian and American terrorists to invade the sovereign state of Venezuela on May 3rd and May 4th and calls on the U.S. government to stop all aggressive and unfriendly acts against that country. On the morning of May 3rd, Venezuelan authorities intercepted a boat with armed mercenaries attempting to enter the country. These terrorists intended to kidnap or assassinate the democratically elected Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Eight terrorists were killed in this botched invasion attempt and multiple persons captured, including two American citizens.

The two Americans who were captured both work for Silvercorp USA, a private security firm based in Florida. Silvercorp planned this failed operation in conjunction with Colombian terrorists and U.S. puppet Juan Guaidó. Jordan Goudreau, the owner of Silvercorp, admitted to consulting with the U.S. government to plan this attack , and showed the press a signed contract that he had with Juan Guaidó.

Although the Trump Administration has denied any involvement in this military debacle dubbed the “Bay of Piglets”, the involvement of the United States is obvious. Jordan Goudreau has revealed that Silvercorp was promised to receive over $200 million from Juan Guaidó to overthrow the government of Nicolás Maduro. This money was to come from funds illegally confiscated by the Trump administration from the Venezuela-owned CITGO oil company.

This attack is just the latest in the long history of US aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. In the past 20 years there have been multiple attempted coups, brutal sanctions, and, most recently, the dispatch of US war ships off the coast of Venezuela for “drug interdiction”. All of these actions are in violation of the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and are estimated to have cost the lives of tens of thousands of Venezuelans due to the sanctions limiting access to medical resources.

Students for a Democratic Society condemns these cowardly actions by the United States and it’s terroristic ally Silvercorp. SDS demands an end to all forms of aggression towards Venezuela, which includes the immediate withdrawal of all US warships from the Venezuelan coast, as well as the removal of all blockades and sanctions imposed on the Venezuelan people.
